Stissing Design is a unique studio owned by designer and photographer Tim Jones and his family. Tim’s family’s history in metal work spans seven generations of local blacksmiths and artisans. His furniture and lighting designs are largely in (though not restricted to) the industrial style.Tim loves the challenge of piecing together and repurposing found elements, and recycling discarded items. One specialty at Stissing Design is the incorporation of found materials with zinc tops inspired by the vintage zinc topped tables and bars from France. Tim has developed his own methods of etching and adding patinas that closely mirror the originals from Europe. Inspired by the dairy farming era in the Hudson Valley that has now greatly diminished, Tim utilizes many old agricultural pieces from that period that he loved, and misses.
Tim is one of the few artists that sculpt in solid steel. His organic and nature inspired forms have been incorporated in many beautiful architectural applications. If you have an eye for an eclectic style and a passion for recycling give us a visit!
